Two Book Awards are presented annually: the George Freedley Memorial Award for the best work on live theatre published in the United States and the Richard Wall Memorial Award for the best on recorded performance, film, television or broadcasting.

TLA also bestows several awards recognizing professional achievement, including: the Louis Rachow Distinguished Service in Performing Arts Librarianship Award, honoring individuals who have made noteworthy contributions to the profession; and the Brooks McNamara Performing Arts Librarian Scholarship, acknowledging the accomplishments of promising students.
