ASTR  /  2018 ASTR/TLA Plenary Call for Proposals

2018 ASTR/TLA Plenary Call for Proposals

June 11th, 2018 | ASTR, Conferences, Events

American Society for Theatre Research/Theatre Library Association

ASTR/TLA 2018 Annual Conference

Arousal: Theatre, Performance, Embodiment
Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego, California, November 15–18, 2018

CALL FOR PROPOSALS:

THEATRE LIBRARY ASSOCIATION (TLA) PLENARY

The Thrill of Performing Arts Research

The Theatre Library Association seeks papers addressing the theme of the 2018 TLA Plenary Session at the ASTR Conference: The Thrill of Performing Arts Research. Research heightens our senses, through the thrill of “detective work,” following clues, discovering new facts, and engaging with people and places.

Papers should address performing arts research in various contexts, including research in libraries, archives and other institutions; research that relies on people and places as sources; etc. Papers may present specific topics, case studies, historical research, or general reflections based on experience.

Papers should keep these questions in mind throughout their narrative:

  • How do researchers engage with their sources?
  • How do researchers engage with the “excitement” of research and discovery?
  • How do archivists/librarians support performing arts research?

Please send proposals to Dr. Francesca Marini, Texas A&M University, fmarini@library.tamu.edu, by July 10, 2018, including:

  • Paper title
  • 3 to 5 keywords representing the paper topic
  • Name(s) of the presenter(s)
  • Title(s) and affiliation(s) of the presenter(s)
  • 300 to 500-word abstract. Please include a brief explanation of the topic’s relevance and its connection to the Plenary theme.
  • Short bio of each presenter

Proposals will be reviewed by Dr. Francesca Marini (ASTR/TLA 2018 Liaison) and the TLA President and Vice-president. Presenters will be notified by July 20, 2018.
