TLA-L Listserv

 

The Theatre Library Association listserv (TLA-L) has been established for the dissemination of announcements and news items of interest to TLA members and for discussion of performing arts library and archives issues.  The list is unmoderated and subscription is not limited to TLA members.  While brief announcements of dealer catalogues may be posted, this list is not intended to be a medium for the sale and purchase of books and other materials.

 

How to Subscribe

  1. Address a message to LISTSERV@listserv.illinois.edu
  2. Don't put anything in the "subject" line of your message (because Listserv ignores anything in there).
  3. Instead, enter the following as a command in the body of the message:

    subscribe TLA-L [your first name/your last name]

So, for example, if your name were Tarquin Ganderbracket, you would send a message to LISTSERV@listserv.illinois.edu that read:

subscribe TLA-L Tarquin Ganderbracket

  1. Send that message!

You should then get a message from us, either welcoming you to the list or asking you to confirm that you actually want to join (the system seems to work in different ways sometimes). There will also be the usual instructions on subscribing and unsubscribing, sending messages to the list, etc.

 

A Note from the Listserv Coordinator:

I've noticed for a while that some people seem to have fewer problems in subscribing to this list than others. One "problem" that our list-server seems to have is when people subscribe using upper-case letters as part of their address. For instance:

torquil.ganderbracket@GMAIL.COM

instead of:

torquil.ganderbracket@gmail.com

I suspect that this is because the list-server may be trying to interpret the upper case lettters as some sort of command, so it can't understand the syntax of the subscriber's e-mail address.

Therefore, please, unless it's absolutly IMPERATIVE that you have to use upper case in your e-mail address (i.e., if at your institution torquil.ganderbracket@gmail.com is interpreted differently from torquil.ganderbracket@GMAIL.COM), please don't use them when subscribing to this list. Thank you!
